GlenDronach 15 Revival is a Highland single malt built around sherry-cask richness. Its usual range includes black cherry, raisin, fig, cocoa, walnut, orange peel, and baking spice, with substantial body and an oak-drying finish. It is unpeated in style, although deep cask notes may suggest tobacco, roast, or char.
Cask influence
Maturation associated with Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry-seasoned casks brings complementary effects: raisined sweetness and density from the former style, and nuttier, drier structure from the latter. These are useful tasting concepts rather than guarantees that the whisky literally tastes like either sherry, since spirit character and oak also remain important.
Serving and pairing
Serve neat in a nosing glass and allow several minutes for the aroma to open. Add water cautiously because dilution can reveal fruit but may thin the dense texture that defines the pour. Recommend it after dinner or alongside dried fruit, toasted nuts, mature cheese, or moderately bitter chocolate.
